State law now requires General Fund BASE taxes to be levied at the county level rather than by individual school districts. Because of this change, Belgrade School District will no longer collect these BASE taxes directly and does not determine the countywide mill rate. While the District’s
Local General Fund levy will decrease as a result, the countywide levy may increase to offset that change.
The permissive Building Reserve levies and associated funding will be used for general building improvements/upkeep, improvements to school grounds and facilities for student safety, and improving energy efficiency.
These estimates are based on the current year’s taxable value with no increase, as required by state law. If the District’s taxable value increases as expected, the mill and taxpayer cost increases will be less than presented here.
